Let's talk about HYBRIDS

We all took lots of time deciding which frame style we loved the most, and now that we have them and started exploring into all the amazing toppers and unique materials they're assembled with, we may wish we had more 'frame real estate' to show off those beautiful patterns...no worries, we got you!

Hybrids expand your possibilities by adding variation to your existing style.  Some are very subtle, and others scream with fun!  There are hybrids that are available to all creators, and then some of us develop our own.  Rest assured, you won't have any difficulty finding what you're looking for.

When placing an order, you'll see that most materials will invite you to select a FRAME VARIATION. It's important that you understand the various styles so you can make the right choice!

Here's everything you'll need to know...one layer at a time!

STANDARD:  Standard frames are what you would get from the official magnetic eyewear website.  They don't change the look of your glasses and have good coverage.  All creators offer standard toppers and many of you who own a Cricut cut your own too.  Standard toppers are most common.

CHUNKY:  This hybrid adds random thickness to your frame and is also known as THICK.  Every frame style is different.  We're unsure who the original creator of the file was, but again this is commonly used within our culture.

NONNA'S FRAME:  This hybrid is exclusive to us here at LaserNonna and we developed it for more reasons than one.  First, it always bothered me that we can see the transition from lens to frame.  Nonna's Frame adds 1mm to the inner cut out and 1mm to the outer frame.  The 1mm difference truly does help cover the transition.  But there's more!  Because the hybrid adds an overall 1mm margin, they're awesome for layering.  If you lay a standard frame over Nonna's , that 1mm margin will peak from either side adding a fun dimension to your topper.  Because we developed this hybrid, we've included all 18 styles.

NONNA'S AVIATOR:  This is a fun spin on the standard frame.  The simplicity of itis just enough to change the look as it adds an aviator cross bar over the bridge of the topper.  When we laser cut these, the aviator bar includes what ever material the topper is being assembled on.  The aviator bar is not made of metal as you would find with a true aviator frame.

CATEYE with KEYHOLE:  This hybrid is commonly used by creators and is an exaggerated cateye shape.  It's loved by many because it adds tons of real estate to the topper allowing so much more pattern to show.  The cateye hybrid is available in 13 of the 18 official frame styles reason being is some of the larger frames wouldn't be able to carry such an exaggerated style.  These compatible frames are NOT available in the cateye hybrid:  Drew, Jessie, Harper, Murphy, and Quinn.

CATEYE without KEYHOLE:  Continued feedback from our customers shared that they wished the cat eye didn't have the keyhole so there would be a solid surface for the beautiful patterns to show.  So we developed our own version of the CATEYE without the KEYHOLE.  Same amazing look...but with more surface!  Just like the original version of the cateye noted above, this is available in 13 of the 18 styles.

BUTTERFLY:  The Butterfly hybrid is another commonly found style and adds a fun design to the frames.  This too is only available in 13 of the 18 styles.

Below are examples of the various hybrids.  Also please be sure to visit our UNDERSTANDING FRAME STYLES page to learn more!
