We cut as many as 600 toppers a week, and every now and then a customer will reach out and share that their toppers aren't hugging. The first thing we ask is whether or not they've had any maintenance or repairs done to their frames. And in most cases, the answer is yes!
Let's just say you're having NEW or REPLACEMENT lenses installed...the process includes them having to heat your frame. This process forces the plastic to expand enough for them to bend and then when they cool the plastic shrinks. This isn't any different than 'shaping' toppers...just a bit more intense than a household blow dryer.
Such extreme behavior WILL CHANGE your frame. What does that mean...
We ask that you're mindful when ordering. If you have had any maintenance or repairs done on your frames, let us know. We'll send you blanks in both acrylic and flexible wood to test the waters. We cut all our toppers from SVG files and the blanks aren't any different than our ready to wear so testing is important!
If they don't hug the way you're wanting them to, you can try glue dots, but if you're not totally satisfied with placement, please don't order. We pride on our customer service and want to ensure your toppers are perfect so taking these steps in the event your frames have been altered is important!
